Most couples have one song. It played at the wedding, or in the car on the way home from the first date, or it has simply been theirs for years. A song lyrics gift takes the words of that song and gives them a place on the wall. Here is how to choose the song, which kind of lyrics gift suits whom, and what to know before you order one, from the workshop that engraves them.
The short answer
Pick the song that belongs to a moment, not just a favorite artist; decide whether you want the whole song or one verse; and choose a format that fits the room it will hang in. If the song should also play, add a QR code.
Choosing the song
- The first dance. The obvious choice for a wedding or anniversary gift, and the one most people recognize the moment they see the title.
- The first-date song. Whatever was playing that night, even if it is not a love song.
- The song the whole family knows. For parents' anniversaries, the song from their wedding is a gift the children can give together.
- A song that got you through something. Not every lyrics gift has to be romantic.
Song lyrics gifts compared
- Paper print in a frame: the lightest option and easy to reprint; the words sit behind glass.

Our custom song lyrics record is a Baltic birch record with the lyrics engraved in a spiral. The center label carries a header of your choice, your date and the artist and song, in a gold mirror, silver mirror or matte black wood finish. It comes in five diameters, from 7.8 to 15.7 inches (20 to 40 cm), and four wood colors: Golden Hazelnut, Natural, Jacobean and Black.
How much of the song fits
The bigger the record, the more of the song fits in the spiral. You do not type the lyrics: you name the song and we look them up. If you want a particular verse or the chorus rather than the whole song, say so in Additional Notes when you order. If you would like to see it first, ask for a free digital proof in the notes and we email it within a business day.
Adding a QR code that plays the song
The song record with QR code adds an engraved QR code to a gold or silver mirror center. Paste a link to the song from Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube in the builder and we turn it into the code, so anyone can scan the record and hear the song.
Song lyrics gifts for him, for her
The header in the center is where the gift becomes personal. A few that work:
- "Our Song", with your wedding date
- "Our First Dance", with the date of the wedding
- Both first names, for a gift that is clearly about the two of you
- "Mr & Mrs" and your family name, for a wedding gift from friends
Write the date exactly as it should read, for example "June 14, 2026" or "06.14.2026"; we engrave what you type.
For the fifth (wood) anniversary

Display: stand or wall
A display stand and a wall hanger are sold separately and added in the builder, so the record can sit on a shelf or hang on the wall. Keep it indoors, away from direct sunlight.
When to order
Every record is made to order in 1–3 business days, ships free with express delivery and arrives in about 3–4 business days. For Valentine's Day, order by February 1 in the US; for Christmas, by December 10. A proof adds about a day, plus up to 48 hours if you take the full window to reply.
Questions
How much does a song lyrics record cost?
Records start at $59 for the 7.8 in (20 cm) size, and larger sizes cost more, up to 15.7 in (40 cm). The record with a QR code starts at $64. The display stand and the wall hanger are added separately in the builder.
Does it play on a record player?
No. It is a wooden record for the wall or a shelf, with the lyrics engraved into the wood. If you want the song to play, choose the version with a QR code: scan the center with a phone camera and the song opens from the Spotify, Apple Music or YouTube link you gave us.
Do I have to type out the lyrics?
No. Name the artist and the song in the builder and we look the lyrics up. If you want only the chorus or one verse, say so in Additional Notes.
Can you send it straight to them?
Yes. Add a gift message at checkout, and we put it on a card and leave the prices out of the package.
