A Christmas photo memory book: fill it at the table, give it on the day

Two ways to give it

A Christmas photo memory book has engraved wooden covers and blank pages inside, and families use it in two ways. The first is a gift that is already full: you add the year's photos and a line under each one, and Grandma opens a finished album on the day. The second is a book that gets filled at the table: it sits by the tree with an instant camera, and everyone who comes through the door adds a photo and a note. Both work with the same book; the difference is who holds the pen.

Filling it at the table

  • Leave the book open on a side table with the camera, a pack of film, photo corners or photo-safe tape and a marker. The pages have no pockets, so the photo goes wherever the guest puts it.
  • Give each family or each guest a page. Children write the best notes; let them.
  • Take one photo of the whole table before dessert. It becomes the first page next year.
  • Let the ink dry before the book is closed, and keep it away from the fireplace and the window.

Which book

Every cover is laser engraved, not printed. On Natural and Hazelnut wood the engraving appears dark brown; on Jacobean it appears light cream against the dark wood.

The cover wording

Each book takes its own lines: a heading, a family name, a year line, an address, a date. Type them exactly as they should read, with the apostrophes and the capitals you want, because we engrave what you enter, nothing added and nothing removed. An "est." line makes the book the family's, not one year's; a plain year makes it this Christmas's. If you want to see the cover first, ask for a free digital proof in the notes and we email it within a business day.

Paper and size

For family photos choose the 85 lb cardstock: white or cream with black ink, or black cardstock with the gold marker. The 30 lb standard paper suits a book that is mostly letters and signatures. The Small book (8.65" × 6" closed) takes an instant photo and a line per page; the Large (12.15" × 8.6") leaves room for a longer note or two photos. Paper is counted in sheets, 25 to 60, and both sides are blank and usable; a busy family gathering uses about a page per household.

Next year

Leave pages empty. The same book comes out next Christmas, the new photos go in behind the old ones, and the year lines under the photos do the dating. That is why the cover carries the family name and not the date of one Christmas.

When to order

Every book is made to order in 1–3 business days and ships free by FedEx or UPS express, arriving in about 3–4 business days. For delivery before Christmas in the US, order by December 10. Hanukkah begins on the evening of December 4 in 2026; order by November 19, because the carriers pause over Thanksgiving. Signing markers ordered in the builder ship in the same box.
